Other Scripts I’d Love to Write

I love to write, especially screenplays, so as you can guess, I have tons of stuff I’d like to write. Some things are special: either held close to the vest by their owners, or simply not easily gotten even if you have a name and rep. Like many screenwriters, I’d love to take a crack at them.

More Flash Trumping Competence

The International Skating Union (ISU) has announced that they are dropping the Compulsory Dance from the Ice Dancing competition. Bad move, but hardly surprising given their history.

My Vulgarity Conundrum

I love words. I love all words. They tie us to a common anchor of communication. And yet, some words are despised. Not because of anything intrinsic–they are just sequences of letters/sounds, after all–but because of societal taboos. It’s been an interesting personal adventure.

WNBA 2010 – What’s Going On In the West?

It’s June 19. After 10-12 games played only one team in the WNBA’s Western Conference has a winning record. ONE. That’s pathetic. So…what the heck is going on in this half of the league, and what can they do to make a better showing?

I Never Saw Wil Wheaton Coming

It’s been an odd and unlikely journey. With my TNG tapes having long since been boxed and stored, I honestly hadn’t devoted any time with thoughts of Wil Wheaton. And now, he’s one of my favored celebrities. …And I’m still not sure why.

TCW Compilations

As I wrote The Connor Wars, I posted scripts on a more-or-less consistent schedule. By necessity that meant I posted each script on its own. True, while I threaded them together so you could read them in order, and provided a home page for you to access them at your whim, there was still one thing left to do that I’ve held off doing until now: a compilation.

TIB Has Moved – The Migration Experience to WordPress 3.0

For good or for ill, I’ve moved TIB over to Wordpress 3.0. What does this mean? For you guys, it pretty much just means that instead of typing “http://cjcs.com/tib” you’ll be typing “https://tib.cjcs.com”. Hopefully that will be the only significant inconvenience you’ll have.

Miss Weller, Coaching, And All That Jazz

An article on knoxnews.com brought back a lot of memories. With former University of Maryland Head Women’s Basketball Coach Chris Weller’s well-deserved induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame this Saturday, the article reflects on how past players, particularly Jasmina Perazic, find that they sound like their college coach.

Very Tasty Mock Tuna Salad Recipe (Vegetarian)

I’ve been missing tuna salad. It’s almost a staple dish in my house since I was a kid, long before my vegetarianism entered the picture. Every summer, I’ve looked on as family members have indulged. No more. I was going to make a veggie tuna salad.

WNBA 2010 – Fixing the Sparks

I was going to post this along with my early season thoughts, but I held off until after the outdoor game between Los Angeles and Seattle, which Seattle controlled the entire game for the win. With the Sparks now sitting in the cellar, the question isn’t so much can they make the playoffs but more with how they can right the ship.

WNBA 2010 – Early Season Thoughts

It’s the first weekend of June and about a fifth of the WNBA season is done (boy, that was quick). It seems like a good time to offer up some opinions about the season so far. I didn’t do my usual pre-season post simply because with all of the off-season changes, it seemed to be an exercise too fraught with not-enough-information-itis.

Does Anyone Understand Loudspeaker-speak?

I was recently in a store, my items were being checked out and I was putting the already-bagged purchases into my cart. From the store loudspeaker/intercom I hear, “Whllrreerah weegtoe hruna…” and so forth. At least, that’s what it sounded like to me. I had no idea what was going on. The cashier, however, seemed anxious and was hurrying with checking me out. Other customers were quickly and calmly heading to the exits.

Are Cameras the New Guns?

Governments and police need to embrace the public-generated media scrutiny, not persecute and prosecute it. To do otherwise suggests systemic malfeasance. Are Cameras …

Nose to the WordPress

This past week has been largely about prepping for the great Wordpress 3.0 migration. So…programming, theme-building, and some interesting little hacks that have allowed me to level-up a bit with WP3.
