The LA-La Ride: Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer On the Road and On Ustream

From October 21, 2010 to October 30, 2010, Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff (Kara “Starbuck” Thrace) and Tricia Helfer (Number 6, Caprica 6, Gina, etc.) are doing a motorcycle tour from Los Angeles to Louisiana. Their LA-La Ride is to raise awareness and money for the Gulf Future campaign for Gulf Coast recovery. Now that the Gulf oil spill isn’t nightly news fodder, it’s important that it’s not forgotten until the region is cleaned up.

They also need you to watch…but more on that in a bit.

They are asking that, if you can, you donate to Gulf Future (http://www.gulffuture.org/) through the web site, by texting a donation*, or as part of the proceeds from the sales of the apparel and other merchandise they are selling through Katee and Tricia’s site, ActingOutlaws.

Every night after their ride, at approximately 8:30 Pacific time (11:30 ET) — which I imagine might be subject to change as they move east — Tricia and Katee take to Ustream and vlog to the fans for a spell. You can check them out live and archived at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-la-la-ride-2010. (Or go to Ustream, search for “actingoutlaws”, and follow the links.) They are fun, goofy, and generally what you’d expect when a pair of friends set out on a trip and enjoy themselves.

Their goal is to have AT LEAST 15,000 live viewers of their Ustream feed by the last day of their trip, on the 30th, in New Orleans. That’s where you come in. If you are a fan of either or both actors, if you are/were a fan of BSG, or if you just like to see a couple of grown-ups acting like buddies on a road trip, then you need to drop by AND spread the word to your friends and followers. There is no obligation to donate to the charity or buy stuff from their online store, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate it if you do. It’s basically a win all around.
