Still Dancing

Quick update: Since I got in Dutch with Mary Scott* a while back, I haven’t really heard anything. She hasn’t tried getting in touch with me. I do make clear that lines of communication are open (emails, letters, texts, etc.) but at of this writing she hasn’t opted to say anything.

I had started wondering if maybe the entire family had put me in the proverbial doghouse. I haven’t heard anything from any of them, either. A few days ago I texted Tess to test the waters (enough "T"s there for you?). She said that she wasn’t having a problem with me. I have to tell ya, that was a big weight off my shoulders. With my dad’s illness, these ladies are a lifeline to me (not that that’s why I love them, but it is a comfort that they are there). It’s one thing if one person you care about shuns you a bit (happens to just about everyone at some point), but had it been a kind of en masse thing…well, I don’t need to worry about that, now.

So, little Dawn is going to have her third birthday in about a week. Right now, I don’t know if I’m going to be asked to attend. I’d like to (little Dawn and I are becoming buddies), but at this point I don’t know how the strain between me and Dawn’s grandma is going to play out. We’ll see.
