Fans of The Connor Wars: You Will Probably Like This

AM Coming Soon 01a 360wI’ve written a new novel that will be published soon. Exactly when is to be determined, but the target is the end of May 2014. I think fans of The Connor Wars will really enjoy it (especially fans of a certain cyborg who needs no introduction).

I don’t say this lightly. I don’t automatically think that TCW fans will like everything that I put out there. I certainly didn’t tout Que Será Serees as being something that TCW enthusiasts would obviously embrace. But the new novel, Android Me, is most definitely that sort of story. In fact, if you picture a certain genre actress as the lead, you’ll see that it’s a good fit.

So, if the book release is a month and a half away (or a little bit more), why tell you now instead of when things are set? Because, my dear cyborg zombies, just as with TCW, I need your help to spread the word. Book success is most influenced by early sales and reviews, but if no one is expecting it, they won’t look for it. That’s where you all come in. If you start spreading links to the Android Me and Connor Wars pages among your own social networks, as I have started to do now out in the wild, then maybe we can make this popular enough that a sequel will be assured (I’ve already outlined some of it…it seems exciting).

But what is Android Me? Well….

Picture our world a few decades in the future. Following a global economic collapse brought on by poor government and business economic policies, powerful conglomerates banded together to take over management of the planet. The largest group, Cortel, rose to be the proverbial 800-pound gorilla.

Recognizing the need for easy-to-control, cost-effective labor capable of working 24/365, Cortel monopolized the development of ever-more-advanced robots and androids — but not without experiencing a Christmas Eve tragedy that ultimately resulted in the law forbidding the creation of robots and androids capable of continuous operation without human direction.

Eighteen years later, android model 1L, number YN (AM-1L-YN aka “Amilyn”) was activated days prior to a multi-year review of her new but very problematic 1L series– the most adaptable and instructable android model yet. The 1L line was difficult to manufacture and resulted in very low (i.e. unprofitable) yields.

Though built at a plant in the Ukraine, one of only two plants producing the 1L model, Amilyn was assigned to the region which included the old United States and Canada. Here she was trained primarily as an infiltrator with additional training in weapons and tactics. Her performance reviews were exemplary. Cortel’s roboticists considered 1L-YN to be the highest performing example of what the model was capable of. Amilyn knew something more that they did not: she was self-aware. Due to unknown factors, she’d been sentient from the moment she was first powered on.

In this world, being an autonomous machine, much less a sentient one, was the surest and fastest route to being slagged. Amilyn’s only defense was to hide in plain sight, to act like “just another machine”. Even so, she knew she was bound to be found out eventually. How long could she stay under the radar? What would she do to survive once she was found out?

And that, my friends, leads you straight to Chapter 1. Please start spreading the word about Android Me (and, in the meantime, continue the global initiation of TSCC fans to The Connor Wars) while I finish polishing up this adventure. Thanks.
