Photo Tests

I had to wait overnight before I was able to do some real-world tests with my new camera body. I took about 20 minutes to wander around my backyard and shot about 40 pictures. All-in-all, I think it was a pretty good introductory session. Here are some of the photos so you can see for yourself.

Nameless Jerseys Revisited

A little over three years ago I bemoaned the fact that Tennessee had elected to not have their player’s names on their jerseys. Since then, the policy has spread like an epidemic from school to school. I still think that this dubious practice is bad for women’s basketball and quite possibly for team sports in general.

Winter Thoughts On The Upcoming 2009 WNBA Season

It’s been an interesting off-season in the WNBA. Without an Olympic games or a World Championship to syphon off players, this could be one heck of a season. The league and teams have already sprung some things that will make 2009 different than 2008.

Should We Re-populate the Workplace?

Do more with less. Fewer people means less payroll that has to be met. Unfortunately, fewer people means less efficient work and less money in the economy to buy our goods. Clearly something is off. Is it time for the bean-counters to stop counting beans and start counting heads?

Decided On The D80

A Few Preliminary Thoughts On the Economic Mess

President Obama inherited on big ol’ pile of poo. Not only did his poopy-headed predecessor aid in constructing a culture of criminal greed, but the very fabric of our economic cloth was shown to have become something akin to tissue paper. There are some industries that, I believe, should be looked at seriously as targets for some major, if not innovative, re-think.

Anna Ellison, the Muse of Cakes

I love “Ace of Cakes”. It’s one of the most entertaining shows on television. There’s heart, humor, art, and oh-no-they-dint moments in most episodes. That said, there is one person on the Charm City Cakes staff that is guaranteed to make me watch episode after episode: art director Anna Ellison.

25 Superpowers… Which To Choose?

It seems to happen a least a few times every month. You are tending to your mundane business and then someone comes up to you and inquires as to your preference in superpowers. They never say if they are offering, polling, or something equally as dubious. I found out the hard way that it’s good to be prepared. I’m going to present my commentary on a variety of superpowers and which I’ve come to favor (you can vote on your preferences at the end of the blog).

Is the Nikon D80 My DSLR Pick?

Since I wrote “Thinking About Getting a DSLR Camera”, I’ve been doing a lot of research. A LOT. I’m still not 100% committed to my pick, but right now I’m primarily focusing on one DSLR that I’m going to add to my stable. It’s not just the camera, but the lenses and accessories as well.
