Time Warping Olde Tyme Star Trek

If you are a lifelong trekker/-ist/-ie, especially when your fannishness extends to the original series (TOS) when it was first airing on NBC, the remains a special place in your heart for un-rebooted Trek. No lens flares. No retconning. Just Trek. Trouble is, there hasn’t been a new episode in well over four decades…until now.

Enter Star Trek Continues, a high quality, enthusiast-produced series with new actors — including Mythbusters‘ Grant Imahara as Sulu and Chris Doohan (Jimmy Doohan’s son) as Scotty — that picks up where TOS season 3 ended. They previously posted vignettes, but have now released a full-length (’60s length, not the much shorter ’10s length) episode titled “Pilgrim of Eternity”. Not only is it a follow-on to the 2nd season episode “Who Mourns for Adonais?”, but it also features the same lead guest-star. While it’s not an always pitch-perfect homage, the minor flaws are easy to overlook. More importantly, it’s better than a number of original TOS episodes.

This is a first-class effort and one that I’m very much looking forward to seeing continue. Below is the episode followed by an earlier interview with some members of the company. Enjoy.
