Regardless about how I feel about any Apple computers post Apple ][, this commercial is about as good as it gets. Thank you Steve Jobs.
The background sounds, from the klaxon to the talking head, combined with the dystopic drones watching the newspeak just cemented the tone perfectly. The key, though, was Anya Major as the nameless hero. Capitalizing on the coming L.A. Olympics, she was dressed as a track & field athlete. With the perfect balance of fitness, beauty, and heroism, she eludes the thought police for long enough to launch a sledge-hammer (with a satisfying grunt) to destroy Big Brother’s (i.e. IBM’s) message of conformity.
This is a great commercial.
