Shooting Paint

So, after a long wait, my air compressor arrives at my doorstep. I set it up to break it in and…it makes some atrocious rattling noises which clear up (for the most part) after a couple of minutes. Then I set it up to fill the attached air tank. The specs call for the tank to fill to a pressure of 100psi in about 3 minutes. Three minutes later, the tank sits at 14psi, and the needle on the gauge doesn’t budge any higher.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I couldn’t play with my airbrush, and I was so looking forward to it. Then, aften much gnashing of teeth, I decided to take matters into my own hands and I started a part-by-part tear-down. It didn’t take too long to find the problem: a connect from the pump that was so loose that it was amazing I even got 14 pounds of pressure. I tightened the connector, checked all the other connectors to make sure they were tight, and put the contraption back together again.

IT WORKED! IT WORKED! :-D

I put in about an hour and a half with the brush to break it in and give the compressor a bit of a workout. It is a little louder than I was led to believe, but not so loud that you can’t have a conversation with it on. It is loud enough, however, that I’m probably either going to put on ear protection or something to dampen the noise a bit. Even so, IT WORKS! IT WORKS! I’m shootin’ paint again!
