Mini Maglite LED Flashlight
I’ve been a fan of the Mini Maglite flashlights for years. I’ve liked their solid construction as well as their (mostly) reliable service. I say “mostly” because these flashlights did have a significant flaw: the bulbs didn’t last and weren’t all that bright once a set of batteries were a few minutes past the fresh-out-of-the-box stage. That shortcoming was changed with the Maglite LED Flashlight.
You notice two things right away: there is no lanyard loop on the end cap, and the head assembly is a little bit longer than the traditional model. When you load in the batteries and switch this puppy on, you will be in for a very pleasant surprise. The light is much whiter than previously, thanks to the broad spectrum white LED. It’s also significantly brighter without any “halo”, like the older models. btw—no matter how curious you are, don’t look directly into the beam. It is very bright and you will be seeing an afterimage for days. Not recommended for good eye health.
There is very little to criticize about this flashlight. It’s rugged, has a good battery life…and even starts blinking when the juice gets low. If there was anything I’d want, it would be an additional (optional) end cap that has an environment-proof push on/off button. Sometimes, when you’re one-handed, the twist switch in the head is inconvenient. But that’s a small quibble for a truly outstanding small flashlight. I liked it so much that I bought several for the house. When we had a multi-hour power outage, they were very appreciated by all.
Very strongly recommended.
