Butterflies and Bees

My brother alerted me to the fact that the greenery growing on the walls lining the property of our neighbor across the street was all a flutter with butterflies and bees. He was right. A sizable number of both Painted Lady (or Cosmopolitan) Butterflies, along with a similar population of bees, were having a feast on the buds of vegetation. I took a lot of photos and a few movies. One of the flicks is below.

Why so many? If could be part of their October migration in the west. Or it might just be that they really look forward to the nectar in those plants. Whatever the reason, the numbers of insects, and how the butterflies and bees shared the locale was fun to watch.
