Great Firefly Comment
The Kaylee and Anya Doppelgänger
Ever since the FBI arrested members of an alleged (at this time) Russian spy ring, pictures of one of them, Anna “Anya” Chapman, have been released and they keep making me do double-takes. Why? Because she’s a dopplegänger for the actress Jewel Staite, who played Kaywinnet Lee “Kaylee” Frye in the series Firefly.

xkcd: The Race (sort of featuring the Fillion, the Glau, and the Staite)
The brilliance of xkcd cannot be understated, but sometimes creator Randall Munroe can not only reach the mountaintop, but leap above, avoid a pack (a gaggle?) of Reavers, and land on a Browncoat’s fannish heart like a ballerina wearing combat boots. As when, for instance, he paid homage to Firefly.

More Summer Glau Polling
If TV Can, Why Can’t the Big Screen?
It makes no sense that a TV show and a movie of the same franchise should have budgets so grossly out of whack.

Totally Fanning on Summer Glau
There are some aspects of fandom that you just glom onto. Often it’s the larger work: a Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or Battlestar Galactica, or something equally epic. Sometimes it’s a character or actor from those works that has managed to become compelling enough that you follow them from project to project because you know they won’t disappoint. For the past few years, one of those actors for me has been Summer Glau. Like many who have long been entwined … Continue reading

Nifty Stuff…Serenity DVD
While the DVD doesn’t release until December 20, 2005, I already know that I strongly recommend this title. Born from the mind of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Serenity is a continuation of the adventures begun on the too-soon-cancelled show, Firefly. This space-faring outlaw crew travels on the fringe and in the shadows of a "big brother" alliance of worlds. One of their crew, River Tam, rescued by her brother, is someone who was being "schooled" by this … Continue reading
